how did latimer pull this off? this was a two-term incumbent. >> you mentioned spreads. i should note i was up in the 16th district last week. i was getting carvel. you got food on my mind anyway. anyway, i can talk through it all day. my you know, we we stopped to hit up a diner anyway. all right. let's talk about new york city, 16th district. we got the yellow checkmark by george latimer, a clear victory here here we're talking double digits. you rarely, ever see an incumbent lose by double digits and you'd speak about how did he do it? well, let's go in on a county level. all right. jamaal bowman held that rally this past weekend in the south bronx, which i should note is not actually part of the 16th district, but we basically i'm going to show what the bronx is made up. well the bronx actually went for jbeil bowman. look at this and 84% to 16% margin. here's the problem, something i saw throughout this entire campaign, it seemed to me that jamaal bowman didn't know who is constituent square and george latimer did because the fact is you see this margin in the bronx,

latimer is almost 10 points ahead district wide, and now nbc projects george latimer has defeated incumbentresentative jamaal bowman. it will make bowman the third house member to lose the primary, the third house member to lose the primary this cycle. >> steve, i'm reminded of bowman's polling deficit going into the 2020 election where he was running behind elliot engel, the long time congressman by 19 points and wept onto defeat engel by i think 14 pointsmism i think bowman was hoping for a similar outcome for tonight, right? he was polling decidedly behind latimer and saying this was a turnout election. you look at the amount of money spent in this race, the national import assigned to it. $14 million from apac, $24 million overall. it's a race unlike any other. >> no, absolutely. and again, the dwigsz in this district there's that money that's coming in. obviously it's a huge story here. the cost of this race and the question of what impact. no, i would say before the money was spent in this race, bowman's problems were clear here. as i said in 2022 he didn't have a single primary oppon

george latimer is the westchester county executive.ke a look, within westchester, this is how it went last night, 27 point margin for latimer. in the vast majority of this district, contained in there i can show you the bronx, you can see right here this is the bronx section. massive margin there, just percentage-wise for bowman, but far, far fewer votes in the bronx section than there is up in westchester. so, it is really kind of a four-year story here, where bowman did get wind of this in 2020, but with significant opposition, in westchester county, and a lot of that opposition four years ago had to do with the issue of israel. the congressman, eliot engel was one of the most steadfast israel supporters in all of congress. on the foreign relations committee. and bowman unseated him. as i say, since then, that issue that bowman had in terms of opposition in westchester county around that issue, maybe around some of his behavior, it is only amplified, only grown, and so it was clearly a problem for him coming into 2024, exploded into
